Tea Storage: The Complete Guide to Keeping Tea Fresh

The enemies of tea are moisture, heat, light, and odour. Store most teas in airtight, opaque containers at room temperature away from the kitchen. Green tea can be refrigerated (sealed) to extend freshness. Pu-erh is the exception — it needs mild airflow and humidity (60-75% RH) for proper ageing; airtight storage halts the process. White tea can be aged similarly to pu-erh. Never store tea near spices, coffee, or cleaning products — it absorbs odours rapidly.
